“Nature not only provides a lifeline for me to live, eat and breathe every day, but I have true and real miracles in my life that happen. I am not alone in this world and my Source lets me know this. Nature is ever giving to me, she never asks for anything in return, but out of love and respect I want to give back to her.”~Liza Lambertini

"Bliss" by Liza Lambertini

Even though I’m a kindhearted person, I know that I can also be a jerk. Most often, this is out of retaliation for some insult–real or perceived–and I’ve burned more than a few bridges in the past. As I’ve become older, I’ve mellowed out a good bit, and the tendency these days is to try to resolve the conflict before lashing out nastily. I’ve become much more reasonable than perhaps I was in the university days.

A slight disagreement with Liza Lambertini, the amazing artist behind Faeriewood, is one situation in which I had the opportunity to make amends with and retain a friend, or to totally make a mess of it. My temper reared it’s nasty little head, and I almost defaulted to the latter. My heart, however, told me to stop, open my eyes, and to realize that I had erred. This required me to admit fault (which I’m bad at) and to even break out the words “I’m sorry” (which requires much when my silly pride is at the helm).  I did both, almost grudgingly, but sincerely.

She and I then talked it out, like the adults that we are, and moved on. There is no need to go into the particulars of the disagreement, and I only mention this because I’ve noticed that blessings seem more abundant when I do the right thing. Because I did what my heart instructed, I received something special.

Not only do I still have Liza as a friend, she’s also gifted me the best thing for my blog–Le Frog. I’d been toying with the idea of getting a logo and making a cutesy badge that other folks could potentially nab to link me back to their blog, but I hadn’t acted on it. I didn’t want to fork out the funds, either, because my finances have been a bit snug since my career changeover. I know that logos can be quite pricey, and to be honest, I feared being fee-raped by companies that specializes in them.

Le Frog

Last week, I started thinking “logos” again, and I approached Liza about her fee to do something special involving a frog as a logo for my blog. She worked out an arrangement that is mutually beneficial. Here is Le Frog, the new mascot, if you will, for Like a Bump on a Blog.

If you haven’t checked out Liza Lambertini and Faeriewood, I’d say it’s a “must do.” You can also follow her on Twitter, @LizasArt , and you’ll be seeing tweets from me there promoting her fine creations. Any of those creations would be a compliment to any dwelling, and her talent is incomparable. I mean, seriously, look at Le Frog. Isn’t she amazing? Go and check Liza out–I’m sure you’ll love her as much as I do.

***Liza, thank you so much, with my whole heart, for being an amazing friend and doing something so special for me. I’m glad I didn’t ruin it with prideful insensitivity.***

Until next time, friends, and thanks for showing some love to an artist who creates with her whole soul and gives way more back to the world than she could ever ask for.

  3. Like the new color scheme! Georgia peach? Losing "Typical travels…" in the darkness of the water (can be fixed in template editor though!). Overall, a nice warm feel to the whole thing. Kudos!

  4. Amberr, such a nice story! Its very hard to admit wrongs and further to then try to make amends. However painful, it is always a growth opportunity. Thanks for sharing this heartwarming story. P.S. The Frog ROX!

  5. So glad I found your blog! What interesting travels you write about…and I am so intrigued by the header photo http://mamawolfe-living.blogspot.com” rel=”external”>!http://mamawolfe-living.blogspot.com

  8. Thanks. Matt, with your help and some lovely creativity, my blog is turning into something lovely. I also took out the typical travels and made it part of the intro. The template editor wouldn't allow me to "fix it" so I fixed it "Amberr style."

  9. Thanks. Maria, I am, too. Relieved, in fact ;)

  10. Very nice post!! Yayayay! Loved it!

  11. Sometimes, we all have to swallow our pride and do what's right although at times you would have to tell that person to beat it, but I am glad you did the right thing and kept a friend instead of losing one. I wish that our so called leaders on capitol hill would do the same thing and get their heads out of their butt holes and get the country's issues resolved like getting money to help the people who are affected by Hurricane Irene. I won't go on about politics because its bad to post about politics or even religion (or so they say). :-)

  12. This is the truth….and it's so hard to do. Good for you! There are very few relationships not worth saving. Love her work.Ali from VB
