Travel Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The Errico’s are back with another great travel guest post on Disney. This time they explore Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Have fun and enjoy!
***********************************************************************
With the two first Disney parks complete and fully explored, we can now venture to the third Disney park, Hollywood Studios.
Hollywood Boulevard and Echo Lake
As you strut into Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can almost smell undiscovered talent and taste fame. Street performers surround the area with overdone makeup and extraordinary outfits. Anything can happen in this crazy, upbeat town. Put on your best smile and strike a pose. The film is rolling, and you are starring in your own movie.
Hiding behind Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat is the Great Movie Ride, and I can’t think of a better way to set the stage for this park. This ride puts you in the center of some of Hollywood’s most well-known creations. Gene Kelly, Tarzan, and even the Wicked Witch of the West make their appearances.
Can you belt out a tune? Ever dreamed of singing on a stage? The American Idol Experience is the show for you! Compete against others as you sing your way to the finals. As the name of the park implies, Hollywood Studios is quite similar to a working studio in Hollywood, showing you how special effects and certain stunts can be performed. This next attraction, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, is sure to make your heart pound with anticipation as Indy attempts some perilous adventures. Star Tours has been revamped to provide a completely new experience sure to impress Star Wars buffs and newcomers alike.
Streets of America
Gliding our way to the Streets of America, a very familiar green frog makes his appearance. Along with his recent role in the Muppets movie, Kermit the Frog and friends also have a home here at Muppet Vision 3D. With countless visits to this attraction, you’ll find yourself retelling the jokes to friends, family, and practically anyone who will listen.
Honey I Shrunk the Kids! Movie Set Adventure shrinks you down to the size of a bug. Kids will love to play around the set, and parents are welcome to join in the fun! Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show is bound to captivate curious children and adults with an insight to how car stunts are performed. The Studio Backlot Tour is especially interesting, giving you the neatest information on all things movies: from the sets to the costumes and even special effects!
Pixar Place
The newest edition to Hollywood Studios, Pixar Place hosts Toy Story Mania, a carnival-style game similar to Buzz Lightyear in the Magic Kingdom, but with new effects and more characters. This ride is extremely popular, and for good reason. Everyone can compete and show off their skills.
Mickey Avenue
Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream is a movie and display of Disney’s history. Entertaining, informative, and insightful, this attraction is a personal favorite and one not to be missed.
Animation Courtyard
Have you ever wanted to be part of Ariel’s world? Sebastian isn’t kidding when he says, “We’ve got the spirit, you’ve got to hear it, under the sea!” Voyage of The Little Mermaid, a 4D stage show, is fun, refreshing, and definitely full of spirit to be heard.
The Magic of Disney Animation is a recently discovered treasure for our family. It gives you the opportunity to be a Disney artist while creating your own souvenir! You can also head downstairs to take a short quiz where you will find out which Disney character’s traits are most like yours.
Disney Junior- Live on Stage! is an interactive show for toddlers that features their favorite characters but it’s actually pretty fun for the adults too.
Sunset Boulevard
“Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, Beauty and the Beast,” is now Live on Stage! A beautiful interpretation of the movie, this show has wonderful music and dance numbers. After that mystifying show, we’re going to walk this way to Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith. Upon entering G-Force Records, take a good look around because you won’t want to miss a thing. Okay, I suppose that’s enough with the painfully awful Aerosmith references. You’ll be escorted to Aerosmith’s concert in s super stretch limo! Get ready. It’s a quick ride.
“Do do do do , do do do do, do do do do,” everyone can recognize that famous tune from none other than The Twilight Zone. Emitting from the Hollywood Tower Hotel, terrified shrieks from its residents fill the air and set the mood for this adventure. If you inspect the hotel lobby closely, you’ll know something is up (and you’ll soon find, down) in this place. Little do you know, that something is you and a whole elevator load of unfortunate guests.
What better to end the night with than Fantasmic! This show does not disappoint with spectacular effects including fire on water and quick transformations. It is quite the conclusion to a fun-filled day in Florida’s closest thing to Hollywood.
Three parks down and one to go. We’ll close our tour in the next post with Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

After 19 years & 15 trips, I was finally chosen to be part of the Backlot Tour show. I’ve never had so much fun getting 1,000 gallons of water dumped on me!
Looks SO fun! I’ve only been to Disney World, but hope one day to go to this one as well.
It’s my younger daughter’s favorite of the four Walt Disney World parks. I really like it too.
This has just made me even more desperate to go back!! xx
Go! Just go!

I love that place! Thanks for the great reminder of all those great places to visit. However, I used to remember that it was called MGM Studios. I guess Disney must’ve changed the name to Hollywood Studios. But I always love the Christmas lights during the holidays.
Great post
The contract with MGM ran out a few years ago & was not renewed hence the name change. We still make the mistake every now & then but cast members are quick to remind us. 8:-)
