Unconventional Engagement Party Ideas for Out-of-the-Box Couples

Unconventional Engagement Party Ideas for Out-of-the-Box Couples

A wine tasting party is a fun, unconventional engagement party idea to consider.

You and your fiancé are not exactly ordinary, so why should your engagement party be? You have the freedom to make your engagement party anything you want it to be, so why not do something a little bit unusual?

When it comes to engagement party ideas, many people will play it safe and stick with the conventional types of engagement parties that they have been to all their lives. Of course, there is nothing wrong with a traditional engagement party, but it can be a lot of fun to do something different for a memorable experience that your friends will be talking about for years to come.

Turn Your Engagement Party Into a Charity Event

You and your fiancé already have everything you need, so why not dedicate your engagement party to helping those less fortunate than you? By turning your engagement party into a charitable event, you will impress your guests, inspire goodwill and help others. You could organize a group of friends to volunteer at a soup kitchen, help to build a house or perform some other task for charity. You could clean up a local park or go to nursing homes to cheer up elderly residents. Make sure to be clear about the plans in your invitation, so no one feels overwhelmed or obligated to participate. After the work is completed, you can say thanks to your friends with a nice meal.

Scrapbooking Party

Another fun idea is to have a table set up with scrapbooking supplies at your engagement party. You can place lots of photos, stickers and coloured pens on a table and invite your guests to write messages, draw pictures and make photo collages to put into one big scrapbook. It can be a lot of fun for your guests to work on something creative while they nibble on snacks and drink wine. After the party, you will have a heartfelt scrapbook filled with messages from your friends and family that will always make you smile.

Famous Couples’ Costume Ball

If you love to dress up and want to host a fancy dress party but you are not sure of a theme, why not encourage your guests to come dressed as famous couples from history or Hollywood? This theme is perfectly suited for an engagement party. Your party might be attended by Johnny Cash and June Carter, Marlon Brando and Marilyn Monroe or some other well-known pairs. The party supplies and decorations can include posters of famous couples hung on the walls and quotes from celebrities singing the praises of their significant other. Dressing up for a costume party is a lot of fun, especially if your friends really get into it and are creative with their costume ideas. Make sure you give your guests advanced notice so they will have time to decide what to wear and find the right costume.

Wine-Tasting Party

If you and your fiancé are wine lovers, you can host an engagement party with a wine-tasting theme. Ask each of your guests to bring a bottle of their favourite wine to share. Have plenty of wine glasses available as well as some finger foods, breads and cheeses for pairing. Fill the table with a gorgeous spread and let everyone sample each bottle of vino. You can even host a swap where every party guest goes home with someone else’s wine. If you really want to go the extra mile, you can hire a professional sommelier to guide the tasting and teach you what to look for or even host the party at your local wine bar for a private tasting session.

These are just a few ideas to get you started, but you can design an engagement party around any interest whether it is bowling, horses or photography. When it comes to planning an engagement party, there is no need to be conventional. Feel free to think outside the box and come up with a party that matches your personality.
