Four Bedroom Trends to Try in 2013

Four Bedroom Trends to Try in 2013

Daybeds are one of the popular bedroom trends for 2013.

Whether you have moved into a new home or simply want to revamp your existing home, it is the perfect time to update your decor for spring. If your bedroom decor could do with an overhaul, here are four bedroom trends guaranteed to inspire.

Wonderful Wallpaper

Wallpaper is making a comeback, and if your decor is looking a little dull, this should top your bedroom trends for the year.  This season’s wallpaper trend is fresh and funky and bursting with the hottest shades. Gone are the days where you adorn every wall with wallpaper as this is a dated look from the past. Accent walls are bang on trend which means you paint three walls and wallpaper the back wall to create a striking feature. Having one patterned wall is an easy and cost effective way to makeover any room of the house. Gold is the accent color of choice for spring and summer and works well in both classic and contemporary homes.

Relaxing Retreat

2013 is the year of the boutique bedroom. The latest decor bedroom trends will create bedrooms that are serene and relaxing, similar to that found in a luxury spa hotel. This trend features elegant decor, white and ivory shades and minimalist designs. The key to this bedroom decor trend is storage as it requires a clutter free room. When choosing your bedroom furniture, aim to purchase beds that incorporate hidden storage as this will increase your storage without impacting on the amount of space you have.

The Day Bed Revival

The daybed has been off the bedroom trends radar for a while now, but recently it has shown signs of creeping back in. The traditional daybed has been given an edgy makeover and now features metal designs in Ivory and black. Daybeds add a touch of class to any home and they are perfect for guest bedrooms where space is limited. You can find a superb range of options online at Metal Beds Ltd – Wholesale & Trade Beds specialist.

Bespoke Headboards

If you really want to make an impact, create a unique selling point in your bedroom. Having a bespoke headboard can add both originality and style to your bedroom and will help your home stand out when the time comes to sell. It is one of the best bedroom trends of 2013 right now. Unique features such as this can attract buyers and help you get more for your home. You can create a completely bespoke design that complements the rest of your bedroom decor and your budget.

  1. I had never thought of a plaid for use in the bedroom, but I found a nice plaid at Pottery Barn, Jackson Plaid, and used it. Duvet cover, pillows, etc. I really ike it. Very warm and cozy looking. The plaid lends itself to an ‘north woods’ kind of theme. I used two old straw hats for above the bed, and a heart, shaped from twigs. On a roll now, I used a tree branch from the yard, perched two Cardinals bought from Hobby Lobby, to pick up the red in the plaid, added some faux pine greenery, and voila! I used a tweedy camel colored curtains from Lowes. My room was done on a shoe shoe sring, using found objects. The bed frame is metal, the dresser is a thrift shop find, golden oak with iron drawer pulls.

  2. I’ve been considering how to spruce up our bedroom. I think I’m going to keep my eyes open for some interesting wallpaper! 🙂

Your turn!
